問：「明天或明天之前，我都不可能做完」這一句，可不可以譯做I can't finish it on or before tomorrow？

答：英文可以說before tomorrow，但不可以說on tomorrow，所以讀者那句翻譯並不妥當，可改正如下：

（1）I can't finish it by the end of tomorrow（明天子夜之前，我都不可能做完）。

（2）I can't finish it until the day after tomorrow（我要到後天才可以做完）。

問：我的英文老師說，共產黨是馬克思創辦的組織，是個專有名詞（proper noun），所以Communist一字必須用大寫，對嗎？

答：Liberals、democrats、socialists、communists等字，一般會用大寫說「自由黨員」、「民主黨員」、「社會黨員」、「共產黨員」等，而用小寫說信奉自由、民主、社會主義、共產主義而沒有入黨者。例如香港民主黨員叫Democrats，而民主派人士則一律叫democrats。

不過，假如不會引起誤會，則即使是說政黨，都不一定要用大寫，例如第四版《朗文當代英文辭典》說共產黨政權，有a communist regime、Communist governments兩個寫法；一九九八年版NTC's American English Learner's Dictionary communist條也有以下例句：The members of the ruling party were all communists（執政黨員全是共產黨員）。無論如何，communist今天已不能算是專有名詞。
