Should you would like to join the tea gathering, please register on or before 15 October(有意出席茶聚者,至遲請於十月十五日登記)。Should you would like是正確說法嗎?
答:英文不可說Should you would like,宜改正為If you would like to...或Should you like to...。 If you would like to較好:would like是want(想、要)的委婉說法,着重對方的意願;Should you like to則等於If you should like to,那should有點「不肯定」的意思。例如:
(1)If you would like to see me, call me any time(你想見我,隨時打電話給我好了)。
(2)If you should change your mind, please call me any time(你假如改變主意,請隨時打電話給我)。 所以,用If you would like勝於用If you should like。
究竟以下一句應不應加逗點於because之前?──We can't go to Julia's party because we're going away at the weekend(我們週末將外遊,所以不能參加朱莉雅的派對)。
