Angry red lumps and incessant scratching are not pretty. Here are a few ways to keep mosquitoes at bay as the rainy season approaches.
Para’kito’s Roll-On (HK$160/20ml) is infused with seven essential oils and has a handy roll-on design for mosquito-fighting on-the-go. For mothers-to-be, or children who can’t be persuaded to touch up (it works for up to five hours), the brand’s chic, refillable wristbands (pictured; HK$160 each, including two pellets) offer similar protection.
Zanz Helan's Scent Diffuser (HK$488/250ml) is ideal for those who want a mosquito-free environment indoors without smearing products all over their body. Inspired by Mother Nature, the formula draws on the insect-repelling properties of essential oils such as citronella, crabwood, eucalyptus, geranium and neem. Use rattan sticks to diffuse the scent - the more sticks you use, the stronger the scent.
Erbaviva’s Organic Buzz Spray (HK$320/ 120ml) has a bug-repelling blend of lemon, eucalyptus, cedar wood, citronella, lavender oil and lemongrass, which gives it a refreshing citrus-woody scent. The Los Angelesbased brand was founded by photographer Robin Brown and his make-up-artist wife, Anna Cirronis, who share a passion for pure ingredients. Their products are free of chemicals and harmful synthetics.
Eco.kid’s Bug-a-Bug Hypoallergenic Insect Repellent (HK$188/200ml) not only prevents mosquito bites but also soothes any discomfort a bite might bring. To live up to its goal of being “ecologically responsible” and “kid friendly”, the Australian brand uses only natural and organic ingredients, such as aloe vera leaf extract, andiroba seed and soya bean oils, which protect against bites without irritating the skin.
