問：Out of nothing at all一語，是什麼意思？

答：Out of nothing at all可以譯做「來自一無所有之中」，例如：

（1）The alchemist professed that he could make gold out of practically nothing at all（那術士自言幾乎什麼都不用，就可以製造黃金）。

（2）Do you believe that God created the universe out of nothing at all?（你相不相信宇宙是上帝從虛無之中創造的？）

問：說「受歡迎」，怎樣決定什麼時候用形容詞welcome，什麼時候用動詞be welcomed？

答：這可以憑意思決定。形容詞的welcome，指受歡迎的狀態；動詞的be welcomed，則指一時的行為。例如：

（1）After the long drought, the rain was universally welcomed/was welcomed by everyone（久旱之後，人人都歡迎這場喜雨）。

（2）You are welcome to stay the night（歡迎你在這裏過夜）。

以下兩句，請看welcome應作形容詞還是動詞：

（1）You will always be welcome/welcomed whenever you would like to visit us（無論你想什麼時候來訪，我們都歡迎）。

（2）When the queen arrived at the stadium, she was warmly welcome/welcomed（女王駕臨體育場，受到熱烈歡迎）。
